History

Established in 2002 and in 2004 and registered as a non profit organisation under Nigerian laws, IAP is non partisan, non-governmental Independent Monitoring Organization (IMO) that conducts policy research and advocacy in the areas of transparency and accountability. IAP conducts research and evidence-based advocacy to reduce corruption and inefficiency in social sector public spending and better hold the Nigerian government accountable for equality in public resource division.

It was established in response to the need for a truly independent organisation with specific mandate of promoting transparency and accountability in the public and private sectors. Its founders and promoters include experienced human rights activists who were at the vanguard of the pro-democracy struggle during Nigeria’s dark days of military rule.
