IAP’s overarching objective is to, through advocacy, research, publications and other lawful means, ensure that Nigeria and Nigerians are aware of the destructive impact of corruption on its economic, social and political development, make recommendations for change based on its programmatic intervention, and influence public policy and public opinion.

In actualising this objective, IAP conducts activities and implements programmes that promote democratic development and the rule of law, and these include - but are not limited to activities that:
• Promoting accountability and transparency in government;
• Promoting integrity in public institutions and offices;
• Promoting respect for the Rule of Law;
• Building the capacity of civil society organisations and other establishments to enable them participate meaningfully in the governance process;
• Assisting in the strengthening of democratic institutions;
• Promoting freedom of speech and of expression;
• Enlivening the debate on free access to information and other fundamental freedoms in a democratic society.
